5 Steps to Get Rid of Cellulite Naturally

What is Cellulite?

Cellulite consists of dimply, lumpy areas of the skin that look like cottage cheese. If you’ve fallen prey to cellulite, you know all too well what it looks like. And you’re not alone.

Stephen T. Greenberg, M.D., a plastic surgeon based on Long Island, explains:

“Most people think that cellulite is simply fat, but it’s a little more complicated than that. Cellulite is actually caused by fibrous tethers that run through your fat and pull on the fascia that lies underneath your skin, creating a dimpled appearance, meaning that it’s not just fat accumulation, but rather the structure of the fat, that causes it.”

“Cellulite is an exceedingly common concern for women, affecting up to 90 percent of women and approximately 10 percent of men,”

There are quite a few surgical treatments that are meant to help get rid of cellulite, but it’s important to know that none of them are permanent. “Treating cellulite is tough,” Dr. Warren says. “While many treatments claim to improve the appearance of cellulite, lasting success remains elusive. I think it’s safe to say that no treatment is completely successful and none is more than mildly and temporarily effective.”Unless you drill down to the root cause and seek long term preventive solutions, cellulite will always come back like a bad penny.

What Causes Cellulite?

Various factors contribute to the formation of cellulite, including diet, hormones, and a lack of exercise. Unfortunately, women—more than men—generally start seeing cellulite on their bodies between the ages of 25 and 35, and it tends to get worse as you get older.

Worst yet, as we get closer to menopause, our estrogen levels begin to decrease and this leads to a loss of receptors in the blood vessels especially in the thighs. Due to decreased circulation, less oxygen and nutrients reach the area and the level of collagen decreases. This causes fat cells to enlarge and protrude through the collagen matrix and makes the fat deposits more visible. As the fat under the skin protrudes through the weakening connective tissue, it begins to surface in the familiar dumpling effect.

To make matters worse, as we age and lose more collagen, the skin also becomes less elastic, thinner, and more likely to sag. This increases the chance of cellulite developing.

While we cannot control how our body ages and the hormonal changes taking place, we can find natural alternatives to prevent or slow down this potential cellulite build-up and lessen it’s unsightly appearance.

Here are 5 Simple Steps to Prevent, Reduce and Eliminate Cellulite Permanently:

1. Get Rid of Cellulite with Exercise

One of the best methods for reducing cellulite is exercise. Effective exercises include aerobics and strength training that involves a high-intensity workout—a great way to burn fat, improve circulation and indirectly can work off the fat deposits under the skin.

Firming the muscle underneath the cellulite will help smooth the skin’s appearance. Focus on strength-training moves that build up the hamstrings, quads, buttocks, and hips. Aim for training the lower body at least two times a week, increasing the weight over time to challenge your muscles.

If you don’t have time or access to gym facilities for the cardio or strength training workout, try carrying weights and speed walking around your neighborhood, especially up and down any hill you can find. The brisk walk with hand weights will get your heartbeat up and increase blood flow and circulation to your thighs and buttocks—the most common areas where we accumulate a build-up of cellulite.

2. Avoid Foods That Cause Cellulite and Load Up On Antioxidants

Eating processed foods that are high in starches, refined sugars, preservatives, and salt leads to the accumulation of toxins in your body. The body stores these toxins in fat cells.

One of the keys to treating cellulite is to reduce the amount of toxins in your body because they worsen the appearance of cellulite.

Food Categories to Avoid:

1. Trans-fats found in most processed foods

2. Excess sugar or ‘bad sugar’: sugar get stored in fat cells causing them to expand. In addition, did you know sugar can destroy your skin’s collagen and accelerate skin aging? Learn how sugar can destroy your skin’s collagen.

3. Sodium: Limit your salt intake because sodium causes fluid retention, which can make your cellulite look worse.

Cellulite-Busting Foods Your Skin Loves:

A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, fiber, and antioxidants can help remove toxins from your body and diminish cellulite dimples. The hydration provided by fresh fruits and vegetables flushes out toxins. The high fiber content in whole grains makes you feel full longer, so you eat less.

Antioxidants like French Pine Bark Extract have the added benefits of not only removing toxins but also strengthening your blood vessels and increasing blood flow. Clinical studies have shown the powerful healing benefits of French Pine Bark. Read clinical studies.

Another powerful antioxidant is grape seeds, commonly known as Grape Seed Extract. This extract is known to improve circulation in the legs and to strengthen blood vessels in the lower body, which is very important for preventing the formation of cellulite on thighs, buttocks, and calves. Thanks to its antioxidative properties, grape seed extract is another enemy of cellulite as it prevents the build-up of fatty tissue and the inflammation of the skin, and indirectly helps to prevent and reduce cellulite. Learn more about the powerful benefits of Grape Seed Extract.

It’s also important to eat fat, as long as it is the right fat. The healthy fats in foods like olive oil, avocado, nuts, grape seed oil, and seeds not only nourishes your skin but also make you feel more satisfied after meals, which in turn helps you lose weight and reduce cellulite.

Don’t forget to drink 8-10 glasses of water per day to flush out toxins that are hiding in fat layers beneath your skin. Hydration also plumps the skin, making it look less lumpy.

3. Dry Brush Your Skin

Dry brushing is a popular spa technique and simple way to get rid of cellulite. Dry brushing involves scrubbing your skin with a stiff bristle brush.

It improves lymphatic drainage and blood circulation while helping to eliminate the toxins that break down connective tissue. A whopping 70% of your body’s lymphatic vessels are located right underneath the skin.

Dry brushing also plumps the skin temporarily, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Your skin will feel softer and smoother after just one session of dry brushing.

What to Look for in a Good Brush

1. Soft but firm brush. Soft enough that it does not break your skin but firm enough to give you the needed exfoliation and drainage effect.

2. Brush should be made with natural bristles

3. A wooden handle that can give you the grip you need as you brush your underarms, buttocks, thighs and all over your body.

How To Brush For Best Results

Most experts recommend dry brushing in the morning, rather than before bed, because of its energizing qualities.

Brush vigorously in a circular motion around your thighs, buttocks, stomach, arms, underarms, and legs at least 2-3 times a week.

4. Scrub Your Skin with Coffee

Coffee is one of the most popular energy drinks for people all over the world, but it is only recently that coffee’s myriad benefits for the skin have been discovered.

Apparently, caffeine found in coffee is not only a good stimulant for our brain and an excellent energy booster, it also helps remove water and toxins trapped in our body and skin.

The caffeine in coffee dilates blood vessels, which tone and tighten tissue. In addition, the caffeine in coffee boosts circulation and reduces water retention, smoothing out the appearance of cellulite.
Coffee grounds can be made into an exfoliating scrub that removes dead skin cells, regenerates healthy new cells, and reduces cellulite. Ground coffee contains antioxidants that help release toxins.

Coffee scrub has powerful anti-inflammatory and metabolic properties. It enhances fat metabolism and is most effective in lifting and toning your skin when it’s combined with natural oils.

Make your own coffee scrub and customize for your needs. Whether you are a coffee drinker or not, you can make your own coffee scrub using ground coffee mixed with different natural oils for different results.

Try almond oil and jojoba oil, both work great to improve skin elasticity and protect your skin from free radical damage. Evening primrose oil, commonly found in skin care products and facial masks is a great add-on to your home-made coffee scrub. Evening Primrose Oil has cleansing properties and the ability to stimulate the production of collagen and as well as remove dead skin cells. This oil also helps in the reduction of fine lines and wrinkles and repairs damaged skin cells, increases the delivery of oxygen to cells, and makes it easier for the body to burn more fats for energy.

5. Prevent and Reduce Cellulite By Increasing Your Skin Thickness with The Best Collagen Supplement

Our skin is made up of 80% collagen. After we turn 30, we start to lose collagen 1-2% a year. Hormonal changes result in more collagen loss and thinning skin. Together this increases the chance of fat deposits being pushed up against the skin and creating the dimpling look—cellulite.

One of the most effective ways to combat this is to increase your skin collagen density by taking the right type of collagen and the best collagen supplement.

The key to seeing significant visible improvement is to take a high concentration of Collagen Peptides over a period of time to boost your collagen.

What are Collagen Peptides?

Collagen Peptides, also known as Hydrolyzed Collagen or Collagen Hydrolysate, are obtained by breaking down collagen fibrils into smaller collagen chains, known as peptides, through a process called hydrolysis.

In their native state, collagen molecules are simply too large for the body to absorb efficiently. Hydrolyzed collagen consists of small, usable collagen peptides, rather than amino acids that have to be broken down and then reassembled into collagen.

Clinical studies demonstrate collagen peptides get absorbed into the bloodstream and then penetrate and remain in the dermis, triggering collagen production in the skin.

Can Collagen Peptides Help Reduce Cellulite?

As your collagen levels increase, your skin walls will strengthen and retain more moisture resulting in the skin which looks firmer and more hydrated. Collagen also thickens the skin while making it more elastic, firmer, and smoother, which in turn reduces the appearance of cellulite lumps.

Clinical studies show 10,000mg hydrolyzed collagen peptides a day for 8-10 weeks help increase skin collagen density, reduce fine line wrinkles and smooth uneven skin.

Replenishing your skin’s lost collagen can help prevent and minimize cellulite.

“Within one week of using taut my crepy skin was gone, the creases around my mouth had filled in, the bags under my eyes were diminished and so much more! This product helped a 57-year-old look and feel young again, with a great glow. All my friends wanted to know what I was doing! I’m sold!”

“I am all about eating healthy, taking care of my skin and feeling beautiful inside and out. This product does help the skin a lot! I saw results within the second week. My skin looked plumper, healthy and glowing! I see the difference on my skin when I use Taut and when I don’t. It’s a bit pricey but it’s definitely worth it! Also, great customer service and fast shipping! Thank you!”

I absolutely love Taut collagen!

“I absolutely love Taut collagen. It is so easy to work into my normal nightly routine. It’s small enough to go where I go, so I never miss a dose. The taste is very “orange-juicy” and not bad at all. After drinking Taut for about 7 days, I started noticing a definite difference in my skin. My pores started to fill in, and my skin texture was much more smooth than it had been before Taut. Even the skin on my hands showed an improvement. My fine lines greatly diminished. They did not completely go away, but I definitely saw a reduction in my crow’s feet. The only downside I have found is that if I don’t take it daily (I ran out a few weeks ago,) my skin begins to revert back to its original state. So for me, it would need to be a daily routine. All in all, I love Taut and what it does for my skin. I know it works because of the random, unprovoked compliments I get on my skin while I’m taking it. My husband even said to me jokingly, ‘Stop taking it because it’s making you look much younger than me!
